Pi-Xiu created from imaginary which formed by different animals. As a powerful mythical creature, Pi Xiu is designed to have a fierce-looking. 

 

Horn: Pi Xiu has only one horn which grown with low angle and meaty. 

 

Mouth: A wide-open mouth allow Pi Xiu to eat the treasures from all directions; the sharp teeth scares the evils away.

 

Wing: The two wings of Pi Xiu is short and does not open up. 

 

Paw and Tail: Pi Xiu had paw and tails of Felidae. Perhaps its image took reference of the tiger and leopard as they look fierce and terrifying.

Feng Shui Purpose 

Pi Xiu is a fierce auspicious creature, have the power to turn bad luck to good, often used to keep the vile away and guardian of wealth in Feng Shui practice. 

Origin 

One says that Pi-Xiu is the 9th son of the dragon and fed by money and treasure. It is ferocious that keeps all sorts of evil-doers away and responsible for safety in heaven. During one of Jade Emperor’s parties, Pi Xiu ate many treasures and defecated anywhere. Jade Emperor punishes it by removing its anus and sending it to the man’s world. Ever since then, the treasures that Pi-Xiu eats only went in but no ejectment, 只进不出 (Zhi Jin Bu Chu). Therefore, the Chinese see P Xiu as a guardian of wealth.
